My Story
Dear Friends and Family
This year, I am thankful to be celebrating another year of healthy survivorship. Thinking back to my diagnosis in May 2010, I remember my initial feelings of confusion, fear and helplessness. Despite having been participating in The Komen Race for The Cure for years prior to my diagnosis, I knew very little about the organization and it's mission. I had originally began walking in honor of my mother who had been diagnosed in 1981.
Upon my diagnosis, I joined the Komen community in a more involved way and started to understand Komen's mission of ending breast cancer forever.
Since then I have been appointed to the Pittsburgh Leadership Committee and am honored to be one of the largest fundraisers in Pittsburgh.
Your financial support helps us get one step closer to a world without breast cancer. Funds raised help support breakthrough research and provide assistance to those facing breast cancer today who need our support. Whether it’s emotional support via Komen’s helpline, financial support through Komen’s financial assistance program, or navigation services to break down barriers to care, Komen will be there for them.
Ending breast cancer needs all of us, and your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let’s show breast cancer patients there’s a whole community standing by their side.
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts, in honor of my survivorship and most importantly towards the continued work of the Komen Foundation in their efforts to end breast cancer forever. With love and thanks, Ilene
