Lindsay Eversmeyer's Story

December 23.

What was supposed to be routine....ended up not being.

An annual mammogram. A box to check before the holidays. No symptoms. No warning signs. Just responsibility and consistency. And then—everything changed.

A week later....A call. A follow-up mammogram was needed.

A few days after that....another call.  They wanted to get a biopsy.

Less than 24 hours later...an unexpected after hours call from my primary.  When the phone rang and I saw it was her,  I knew it couldn't be good.

Words no one ever expects to hear......"You have breast cancer."

Time didn’t stop—but it definitely shifted. Every moment suddenly held more weight. There was fear, yes—but also something stronger beginning to rise: determination.

Between December and March

There were appointments. Tests. Waiting. SOOOO much waiting.

The kind that stretches your mind in every direction.

But in that space, something powerful took root.

Faith got deeper.
Strength got louder.
Perspective got clearer.

This wasn’t just something happening to me—this was something I was going to fight through.

My GAME FACE WAS ON!

March 19. Surgery Day.

The day fear and courage stood in the same room.

Walking into that hospital took everything—but I did it anyway. Not because it was easy, but because quitting was never an option.

That day wasn’t just about removing cancer.
It was about reclaiming control.
It was about choosing to fight.

And that's what I did.

March 19. Pathology Report Follow Up

Anxiety hit hard waiting for this call.  However, it couldn't have gone any better!

All the Cancer was removed.

Clear margins.

All the lymphnodes were negative.

The best possible outcome!

However, I would still need radiation treatments.

April 23-29. Final Radiation Treatment.

April 23 was the start of my 5 treatment plan.

On April 29, it was all over.  The bell. The moment. The exhale.

Weeks of showing up. Even on the hard days. Especially on the hard days.

Because strength isn’t loud all the time—sometimes it’s just quietly choosing to keep going.

And now here I am.

Not just “done”…

But transformed.

This year, I joined the Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk. I am dedicated to Komen's mission of ending breast cancer forever, and I need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.

Your support helps us get one step closer to a world without breast cancer. Funds raised help support breakthrough research and provide assistance to those facing breast cancer today who need our support. Whether it’s emotional support via Komen’s helpline, financial support through Komen’s financial assistance program, or navigation services to break down barriers to care, Komen will be there for them.

Ending breast cancer needs all of us, and your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let’s show breast cancer patients there’s a whole community standing by their side.

Will you please join me in this fight by making your donation today?
