I AM A SURVIVOR!
In June of 2023, my life changed forever. I found out that I had breast cancer. I didn’t know what to do, expect, it was just a whirlwind of uncertainty. And then I had to tell my family, friends and work colleagues. Thank goodness for my sister. A survivor herself, (and a doctor), she kept me calm and focused. She always knew just what I needed. I was in surgery a month later, started chemotherapy the month after that, finished radiation right before Christmas, and received my last targeted infusion in August 2024. My daughter felt guilty because she couldn’t be with me because of her military deployment, and my husband was lost. If I didn’t have such a strong support system, I don’t know what I would have done. I got care packages, a cake at work, and soup and dinner from my friends and neighbors to take some of the pressure off of my husband. So far, everything is good. I made it. Now that I’m well, I want to pay it forward and raise funds for the Susan G Komen Foundation to help to eliminate breast cancer forever. I am walking for myself, fellow survivors, and for every blessing that I have received since my diagnosis. If you can, and choose to donate, thank you in advance.
