My journey began in August 2022 and it has been one of the most extraordinarily challenging season of our lives. Not only have my husband and I faced immense stress, but our 4 children have felt the weight of it all as well. My husband and I endured a lot of strain on our business, our marriage and our family, at the same time I received a diagnosis that turned our world upside down: stage 2 Triple Negative Breast Cancer.

At my husband’s request, I stepped away from our business to focus fully on my health. I underwent 16 rounds of weekly chemotherapy, 20 rounds of radiation and surgery to remove the tumor and affected lymph nodes. For almost two years, I carried a port in my chest for treatment and after that just kept it for a while because I was nervous that the big “C” would come back. Every six months, I undergo further blood work, MRIs and PET scans, praying with all my heart for continued good health so that I can be here for my family.

I am deeply grateful that with every scan I am cancer-free. This journey has tested our family in ways we never imagined, dividing our focus between my husband’s efforts to sustain our business and my fight for my life. But through it all, we’ve held onto hope, faith and the love that carries us forward.

This year, I chose to turn my pain into purpose by joining the Susan G. Komen community and registering for the MORE THAN PINK Walk. I am committed to Komen’s mission of ending breast cancer forever, but I cannot do it alone. I need your help.
