My Story

I can?t believe a whole year has gone by since I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. Since I found that mysterious lump. It feels like a life time ago but also just like yesterday. I can still hear the doctor saying that horrible word ?cancer?. I can feel my body shaking and fear setting in. I picture Jake?s demeanor and tears rolling down his face as he held my hand tight. The pain in my parent?s silence as I told them their daughter had cancer. Those moments are awful. The darkest thoughts seep in and the pain in my heart of the ?what ifs? for my children hit way too hard .

My heart aches for anyone who has to hear the doctor say the word cancer. Far too many people are diagnosed with this horrific disease and it seems to be increasing. However the doctors and researcher that pours into destroying this disease are truly incredible. They saved my life. If you would life to help donate please don?t hesitate, you will make a difference to someone?s mom, wife, sister, daughter and friend.

My ?journey? could make you cry but what cancer story doesn?t? It was a bumpy road with lots of obstacles. A few trips to the hospital ( one on Christmas Day), a 5 week pause in treatment from my blood work being critically low and lots of scans in between, as well as many many many shots, steroids and as many medical regimens you can think of. I?m one of the lucky ones who made it out on the other side though. Not every person shares the same journey. It?s an awful disease. But the way God shines through people to help you when you are at your worst and the strength he gives you to fight is unmatched.

I shared some of the most raw moments but also the most touching from this past year. My community parents and family came together and supported myself Jake and kids in every way we needed. The thought of it brings tears of gratitude and so much joy. Thank you for all those who supported us.

My hope is my kids never remember any of the bad. They don?t picture their mom laying in bed with pain or crying on the kitchen floor. But remember spending more special time with grandma and grandpa. Sleep overs at Mimi and pawpaws. Dad being with them for their daily routines. Extra fun friend and cousins time. Lots of trips to the park and learning every word to I will survive as well as dancing around the house. Hopefully they think of their mom as a bad ass who beat cancers butt off and also can remember the way my faith in God shined.

My husband is my rock and the one who?s carried me through this. To know Jake is to know the light in a dark tunnel. He was my positivity through it all. My kids gave me the strength to keep fighting and they will forever be my reason to breathe

I?m hopeful one day the regimen changes and people who are diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer don?t have to go through  this intense treatment plan of 6 months of chemotherapy, followed by surgery and finally radiation. Because it does take a toll on you physically and mentally.

Cancer doesn?t just affect the person diagnosed. It affects the whole marriage, family, relationships and community. Its bigger than one person and

Your support ? whether it?s walking beside me, donating, or simply sharing this post ? means the world.

Let?s take steps together toward a future without breast cancer.

God bless those who are still fighting and the ones who have lost their loved ones.

And most importantly thank you for the prayers over the past year. They did make a difference in my life.

Do not fear for I am with you, do not be afraid for I am your God. I will strengthen you;I will help you. I will hold onto you with my righteous right hand.
