My Story
On October 25th, Brad and I will participate in our 29th Komen for the Cure?s ?More Than Pink? Race in Louisville to honor of some of the bravest women and men we know, our dearest friends and all of those fighting the daily battle against cancer in one form or another. Personally, we remain extremely thankful and feel blessed that my own personal journey had a benign outcome. While we are grateful to have had so many friends celebrate years of survival, we mourn the loss of others. This continues to serve as a painful reminder that there are brave warriors dying from this dreaded disease every day and it has strengthened our resolve to ?keep running the race and fighting the fight.?
If you would like to make a tax-deductible contribution "In Honor Of" or "In Memory Of" a special person in your life, we would be happy to see that these donations are turned in along with ours. Please send the person's name with your contribution so they can be honored on the website on race day. The easiest way to contribute is online at https://secure.info-komen.org/site/TR/RacefortheCure/MoreThanPinkWalk?px=25839696&pg=personal&fr_id=10960
Of course, checks can still be made to "Susan G Komen Louisville for the Cure" or to one of us personally. Checks made to the Louisville Race for the Cure will be cashed by Komen at some point after the October 25th race. Checks made to one of us will be cashed prior to October 25th and a receipt mailed to you. Online donations will be followed up with a receipt as well.
On a personal level, I would also encourage you to reach out to those friends around you going through scans, biopsies, surgeries, and treatment during this time. I am grateful for those who supported me and checked in through my journey. You can show your support to someone in the middle of this battle either by phone, card, text, or email. You may not be able to visit or drop by with dinner but just letting them know that they and their families are thought of and prayed for may lift a spirit just when it is needed the most.
Thank you for supporting these courageous warriors.
