It Was Never About Me - God's Daughter

When I first heard the words "you have cancer-like cells in your breast," my whole world shifted. It was 2009 and I was 34 years old. Fear tried to take over, but with an overwhelming support of my parents, I chose not to let it. I leaned into my faith, believing that Yaweh would guide me through, and I found strength in knowing that I was not alone.

Instead of letting the diagnosis defeat me, I decided to educate myself about the disease. The more I learned the more empowered I became to make better choices for my health and my future. Knowledge gave me courage, and courage gave me hope.

Through prayer, determination, and understanding my procedure, I fought back. I decided to gain knowledge on the different factors that could cause these cells to grow in my breast and immediately I made the necessary changes. As a mother, I was determined to live, thrive, and somehow along the way, inspire others.

Today, I stand as a survivor - proof that faith, courage, and education can overcome even the greatest battles. And now, my mission is clear: to share what I've learned and expose the research I discovered to Black communities and underserved populations, so they too can be empowered with knowledge, early detection, and hope for whole healing. Psalm 118:17
