My Story So Far!
Breast Cancer Awareness -October 2023 - Cyclebar
September 2022 was my first ride with CycleBar San Mateo. I became part of the crazy ?Morning Crew?, getting up before sunrise to work out and get the day started! I have thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful community of instructors and fellow cyclists that all support mental health as well as physical fitness.
Mid-May of this year, I had an MRI that identified a compression fracture in my back. This lead to my diagnosis of Stage 4 Breast Cancer, specifically Ductal Carcinoma In Situ and Infiltrating Ductal Carcinoma, referred to ever since as De Novo Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC). I have been blessed to be under the care of a fantastic oncology team that has seen me through a kyphoplasty (repair of the lumbar compression fracture) and being placed on a targeted therapy that includes hormone suppression. It has been a very bumpy road so far, but in early August, 2024, I got fantastic news that there was an almost complete metabolic response to my treatment after only 2 rounds. My next Pet/CT was scheduled for the end of October and i kept my fingers and toes crossed for a similar, or ideally a better outcome.
I could not have gotten this far without the amazing support of my immediate family Mum) plus Dad who sacrificed many, many, days and nights without her since diagnosis in Mid-May 2023r. My friends and of course, my Cyclecar community, who have reached out to cheer me on, I treated myself to a stationary bike, so that I can really address the paralysis in my right Quad.
There are so many things to write about and share. I will keep these for another day. In the meantime, I am sending you all love and happiness, in spite of our daily challenges. Live each and every day in the moment and do not leave any regrets on the table of life! We all only get one shot of life.......Make it matter!
