Patti Martin Story
In 1986 my grandmother, Patricia Martin was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was discovered while she was showering one Sunday morning after completing a self breast exam. After a biopsy, it was confirmed her worst fear - she was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer.
After the removal of her right breast, including her lymph nodes, she attended mammograms every 6 months. After about a year, precancerous cells were found in her remaining breast. She asked her doctor to remove her left breast, to ensure that the cancer didn’t spread. After the removal, she spent time at Camp Bluebird. First, as a camper and later as a counselor. She still deals with pain in her chest from the surgery, all these years later.Patti is strong. Raising 4 kids while she was going through treatment, as well as running a household. Patti is now in her early 80’s. She has 4 adult children, 7 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Please help us raise money in celebration of her beating cancer! Every dollar goes towards finding a cure for women just like my amazing Nana Banana. Our goal: $2,500 to donate in the name of Patti Martin.
