My Story
This past year has been a journey I never expected to take. After learning that I carry the BRCA2 gene, I discovered I had breast cancer. Thanks to early detection, incredible doctors, and unwavering support from my family and friends, I underwent a double mastectomy and two reconstructive surgeries ? and today, I am cancer-free.
While I?m deeply grateful for my outcome, my story is just one of many. Too many of my family members have fought this same battle, and heartbreakingly, many lost theirs. Their strength inspires me every day to keep pushing forward ? not just for myself, but for my children and for every family touched by this disease.
I walk to raise awareness that can save lives, and to support the research that gives us hope for a future free from cancer. I am beyond thankful for the love of those close to me, the support of my Ameritech community, and for all of you who walk beside me in spirit. Together, we?re part of something bigger ? a movement of hope, courage, and compassion.
Ending breast cancer needs all of us, and your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let?s show breast cancer patients there?s a whole community standing by their side.
Will you please join me in this fight by walking with me or by making a small donation today? Warm thanks - Dawn
