My Story
Hi Everyone!
You all have been a part of my breast cancer journey over the last year, and it was my choice to start my "Breast Cancer Outloud" posts since day 1 because opening myself up to you, being extremely vulnerable in my experience, unlocked the help, hope, and strength I needed in order to fight hard for my survival. This year you have all followed my ups, downs, chapters, challenges, setbacks, everything, and I'm still in my fight! This time Iast year, I honestly didn't think I'd live to see my 45th birthday, which I can happily say I celebrated just a few days ago. As a 45th birthday present to myself, I joined the Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk. I am PERSONALLY dedicated to Komen's mission of ending breast cancer forever, and I need your help!
I know we are all struggling in one way or another financially. Everything is so expensive. I get it, I wasn't able to work for an entire year because of my breast cancer, and I'm still only able to work part time hours, so that hit my family hard, and my husband carried the entire weight of our family on his shoulders alone, but I must ask this of you all. It wasn't that long ago that the type of breast cancer I was diagnosed with was a death sentence because of its aggressive nature. Medical research and science have come so far, and it is the entire reason why I'm still alive today. Whether it is emotional support via Komens helpline, financial support through Komens financial assistance program, or navigation services to break down barriers to care, Komen is here for us affected by breast cancer.
