My Story

April 18th of 2024- that was the day that my life seemed to come crashing down before my eyes. A much anticipated mommy makeover lead to a huge surprise- Stage 2 grade 3 breast cancer. I had never had a mammogram- too young, no family history. I never felt a lump- it was smaller than a pea. But it was aggressive. I had a 3 year old and a 6 year old who very much needed their mom to be around for a long time. The plan was to throw everything at it- chemo, radiation, and all. of. the. drugs.

Here I am a year and a half out and I'm cancer free. But if you know anyone personally who has gone though what I did, you know cancer never truely leaves you. You have lasting physical and mental scars that fade with time but will never truely go away. Even though I am in remission, there is always a change it can come back with a vengeance. And thats why we walk. I want to know that I did everything I could to keep me around for my family if it ever does come back. The money that Susan G. Komen raises directly supports breast cancer patients and research.

Even though my journey has been relatively short, treatment has grown by leaps and bounds. Standard of care is always advancing. New medications are being developed. It is so important to keep up the momentum so that our daughters will hopefully never have to be afraid of this ugly disease.
