My Story
I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer, a rarer form of breast cancer that affects 10-15% of patients, on July 16, 2024. I have been treated with the Keynote 522 protocol and had Keytruda immunotherapy infusions every 3 weeks, 12 weekly infusions of Taxol and Carboplatin, and 4 infusions of Adriamycin and Cytoxan. I underwent a bilateral mastectomy on February 6th and unfortunately there were still cancer cells in my affected breast and one lymph node. Back to surgery I went on February 20th and had an additional 10 lymph nodes removed. After recovery I began physical therapy to prevent lymphedema and then had 25 rounds of radiation while on lower dose Xeloda. I am still on Xeloda at the maximum dose to give me the best chance that this aggressive cancer will not return. I should be having the first of my reconstructive surgeries in early 2026. To say 2024 and 2025 have been a challenge would be an understatement!
I decided to join the Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk. I am dedicated to Komen's mission of ending breast cancer forever, and I need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.
Your support helps us get one step closer to a world without breast cancer.
