Cancer Sucks
My Breast Cancer Story
I am a breast cancer survivor. At 35, I was diagnosed with Stage 1 invasive ductal carcinoma, HER2+. There was no routine screening for someone my age—self-checks were the only way to catch it early, and that’s how I found it.
My journey included six rounds of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, and twenty rounds of radiation. I survived, but not without scars, pain, and trauma. Cancer is scary, and it often feels like a path you walk alone.
Today, I am grateful to be here—five years cancer-free. That milestone means more than words can ever explain.
That’s why I cannot stress enough how important it is to know your body, perform regular self-checks, and understand your family history. These simple but powerful steps can save lives—just as they saved mine.
I want to raise money for Susan G. Komen, because organizations like this one make breast cancer survival possible. Komen helps those fighting breast cancer today by offering emotional support through its helpline, financial assistance for treatment costs, and patient navigation services to break down barriers to care.
Ending breast cancer needs all of us, and your generosity can make a real difference. Together, we can show breast cancer patients that there is a whole community standing by their side.
