My Journey
On August 19, 2022 I was diagnosed with invasive lobular carcinoma...breast cancer. I had no symptoms, no lumps, no idea! This type of breast cancer is more difficult to diagnose and detect than other types even on mammograms. So I consider myself lucky; it was caught early through a routine mammogram and surgery was the only treatment (other than hormone meds for five years) that was needed. Since my diagnosis, I know four other women directly who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. I am glad to share my story to remind others how important it is to take care of oneself.
This year, I am again registering for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk. I am dedicated to Komen's mission of ending breast cancer forever; you are welcome to join my team for the walk on Sunday, Sept 28th or to donate to the cause. If neither of those things are possible, reach out to the women in your life and remind them to get their yearly mammogram - that means more than anything!
Funds raised help support breakthrough research and provide assistance to those facing breast cancer today who need our support. Whether it’s emotional support via Komen’s helpline, financial support through Komen’s financial assistance program, or navigation services to break down barriers to care, Komen will be there for them.
Ending breast cancer needs all of us, and your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let’s show breast cancer patients there’s a whole community standing by their side.
