My Breast Cancer Story
I am no stranger to breast cancer.
In March and April of 2008, just weeks apart, I lost both my mom and her sister, my beloved aunt, to this disease. One year later, in 2009, I was diagnosed myself at just 39 years old.
That experience changed the course of my life. I felt so deeply passionate about ending breast cancer that I made it my life?s work, serving as the Executive Director of Susan G. Komen in Wisconsin for the past 15 years.
After a fierce battle, I beat breast cancer and was blessed with nearly 14 years in remission. But in 2023, the disease returned, and I am once again in the fight of my life. To make things even harder, my younger sister was also diagnosed in the winter of 2025.
We do not carry any of the known genetic mutations for breast cancer, yet it has devastated our family. That is why this mission is personal. We must find the cures.
I have been fortunate to have access to world-class medical care, strong health insurance, and an incredible support system of family and friends. But I know that so many others do not have these same advantages. That is why I walk. That is why I fundraise.
I walk for my mom.
I walk for my aunt.
I walk for my sister.
I walk for myself.
I walk for every person facing this disease.
Please consider supporting me and this mission. Together, we can make sure no one faces breast cancer alone?and we can bring the cures closer.
