Our Story

Thirteen years ago I lost my sweet mom to Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer, just 1 month and 4 days after she was diagnosed. For those of you who knew my mom, you know she was a tough woman. So tough that although she must have been suffering immensely in her final days, she never showed it, but rather was worried about how all of us were doing. So tough that she never went to the doctor even though she knew something wasn?t right.

We were always close and I made a promise to her on the day we got the news, that I would be with her every step of the way?until her final breath? through it all. Something a daughter never imagines doing, but I was blessed to be there for her, as hard as it was.

Today I walk not only in honor of my mom?s memory and in honor of her fight, but I walk with the hope that someday I help spare our daughters, our sisters, and our granddaughters from the pain and agony of walking their loved ones through the end as I did. I walk so that they may never know what it is to receive a diagnosis like my mom?s. I walk so that women everywhere have access and understand the importance of getting regular mammograms and for early intervention.

I want to make an impact in the fight against breast cancer and need your help. Please consider joining our team as we walk in my mom?s memory, making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.

Your support helps us get one step closer to a world without breast cancer. 75 percent of the money raised through the Race stays in the community to fund local breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs. The remaining 25 percent supports groundbreaking breast cancer research.

I and my family thank you for your support!
