My Story
When I first heard the words ?you have breast cancer,? my world stopped. In the months that followed, I went through a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation. The treatments were tough, and the road is still ongoing as I await reconstruction surgery?but through it all, I?ve held onto one guiding light: Chardi Kala.
Chardi Kala is a Sikh principle that means staying in high spirits, choosing positivity and hope even in the hardest times. It became my anchor. On the days I felt weak, it reminded me I was still strong. On the days I felt scared, it reminded me to hold on to hope. And on the days I felt grateful, it reminded me to keep sharing that light forward.
I?m walking in the Susan G. Komen event to honor this journey?not just mine, but the journey of every survivor, every fighter, and every loved one we carry in our hearts. This walk is about hope, healing, and the belief that together, we can create a future where fewer families have to face this disease.
