My Story
It was the spring of 2020, I was 46 years old, I felt a lump in my left breast. Because COVID was turning life upside down, I didn?t give it much thought. Especially since I have a history of multiple studies resulting in benign findings. By August 2020 it was larger and my husband insisted I notify my doctor. COVID delayed the ability to be seen for timely follow up appointments for additional studies along with a biopsy. My doctor called me on 9/21/2020 to come into the office and review the results of the biopsy with me. When the he entered the exam room nothing could have prepared me for the moment I heard ?I wish I had better news.? Fast forward through an emotional journey filled with uncertainty, surgery and treatment my follow up appointments and diagnostic tests show ?no evidence of disease?. I?m thankful and blessed to be here and share my story. Please perform Breast Self Exams monthly. Everyone. Know your body. Don?t skip routine screenings. My family does not have a history of breast cancer on my mom's or dad?s side.
This is the 4th year Team Brasecutors Against Cancer will be participating in the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK WALK. The team members are employees of the CA Attorney General?s Office along with their family and friends who support Komen's ONE mission of ending breast cancer forever. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts. Funds raised help support breakthrough research and provide assistance to those facing breast cancer today who need our support. Whether it?s emotional support via Komen?s helpline, financial support through Komen?s treatment assistance program, or help navigating their care journey, Komen will be there for them.
