My Story

The upcoming 2025 walk marks the 21st anniversary of Team Mission Possible and now, more than ever, groups like Susan G. Komen are inundated with requests for support and help due to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which implements damaging reforms to federal health insurance programs. Aside from political advocacy acts, Susan G. Komen continues to develop new drugs, treatments, funding and outreach programs. New developments so far in 2025 include new drugs, treatments and advancements in early detection!

Team Mission Possible was formed in 2004 to honor my mother, Geraldine Kurtz, who was a breast cancer survivor but died due to liver & kidney complications brought on by the extensive chemotherapy and radiation she received during her fight against breast cancer. As I watched my mom in her last hours, it enraged me to know that people can survive cancer but die because of the side effects of their treatments. Out of that rage and anger, Team Mission Possible was born! Over the last twenty-one years, Team Mission Possible has participated yearly in the Breast Cancer 3-Day, Race for the Cure, and the More Thank Pink Walk, in the hope that no child will ever have to walk or run in an event like this again!!

For many people we have met, Susan G. Komen continues to be the ONLY organization that they can rely on for support, treatment and patient advocacy. We hope that you will consider donating to this year’s race!
