My Story
I am walking in the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk in memory of my mom, who passed away from breast cancer in 2006 at just 54 years old. She was first diagnosed in 1993, at only 41, and her strength continues to inspire me every day.
This cause is also deeply personal for my own health. I am considered high risk, with nearly a 50% lifetime chance of developing breast cancer. I have already faced a scare that led to both a stereotactic biopsy and a surgical excisional biopsy. Now, I alternate between mammograms and diagnostic MRIs every six months, a routine I will need to follow for the rest of my life.
Breast cancer touches so many lives. One in eight women will be diagnosed in their lifetime. That is why I am walking, fundraising, and standing up for research, support, and the hope of a world without this disease.
Every dollar raised helps fund breakthrough research and provides support services for patients and families who need it most. Together, we can make a difference.
