My Story
My Story: Robyn K Brandl
This year I joined the Susan G. Komen community and registered for the MORE THAN PINK Walk to help end breast cancer forever. My reason is deeply personal.
In December 2024 I discovered a breast abnormality. By February 17, 2025 I was diagnosed with ER-positive, PR-positive, HER2-negative Grade 2B breast cancer. On March 28?just two days before my 50th birthday?I underwent a 10½-hour double mastectomy with expanders. Testing showed multifocal invasive ductal carcinoma and positive lymph nodes. Waiting 6½ weeks for my Oncotype DX score was agonizing, but a score of 21 meant I could avoid injectable chemotherapy.
Since then I?ve had multiple surgeries, including reconstruction in May, and continue monthly Zoladex injections and hormone therapy, went from Tamoxfen to Letrozole that bring fatigue, joint pain, nausea, headaches, and depression. I also manage lymphedema therapy, heart concerns, and kidney issues while adjusting to a ?new normal.?I still have one more surgery ahead for fat grafting to correct severe denting in my chest where tumors were removed. We don?t yet have a date.
Through it all, my faith and the support of family, friends, work, and this community have carried me. I am grateful to be here and determined to help others facing breast cancer.
I am walking in Tampa on Saturday, October 18 to raise funds for research, financial assistance, and patient services. Your donation?large or small?brings us one step closer to a world without breast cancer!
Your support helps gets one step closer to a world without Breast Cancer. Funds raised allow these people continue to help people like me and support a breakthrough research and provide assistance in finding a cure ð? Your generosity can make a real difference. Together, we can remind me and show others there?s a whole community standing by my side and others as well.
Will you join me or support my walk with a tax-deductible gift today?
