My Story
In March 2023, my world changed. I was diagnosed with bilateral invasive ductal carcinoma - cancer in both breasts. On my left side the cancer had already spread to my lymph nodes. On my right side it was multifocal with multiple tumors and areas of pre-cancer.
The months that followed were some of the hardest of my life. I underwent a double mastectomy with lymph node dissection and complete left side lymph node removal that resulted in mild lymphedema. This was followed by 25 rounds of radiation and many ongoing years of endocrine therapy. My body still carries the marks of surgery, the fatigue of treatment, and the side effects of ongoing medications. But more than that it carries the determination to keep going - for my family, my friends, and for everyone still fighting.
I am walking in the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK walk after painstakingly defeating this horrible disease. This year I walk alongside my family and friends as a 1 year CANCER FREE survivor! I walk not only for myself, but for all those whose lives have been touched by breast cancer, those we’ve lost, and those who’ve come out the other side scarred but alive.
Your donation will help fund lifesaving research, provide support services for patients, and work toward the day when no one loses their lives to breast cancer.
If my journey has taught me anything, it’s that we are stronger together. I could not have made it through my battle without the love and support of precious family and friends!
Every step we take, every dollar we raise brings us closer to hope, to healing, and to a future without breast cancer.
Please consider supporting me on this walk. No amount is too small, and every contribution makes a difference. Thank you for your support!
From the bottom of my heart - thank you - Kristina
