Amanda Jo's Story
This year marks 9 years since my preventative double mastectomy. Where does the time go?
For those reading my story for the first time, mine is different than many others that support Komen. In 2015, I learned I was BRCA1 with an 86% chance of breast cancer in my lifetime. It was at that time that I decided waiting to find out what would happen was NOT something I was willing to do!
After 6 surgeries in 22 months, I am happy to report that my chances of breast cancer are now under 5%!
I support Komen because I believe in their mission. I believe that this disease affects too many women (and men!) and that prevention, early detection, advanced treatments, education, and research are our key to eradicating this disease.
Your donation, no matter how big or small, helps us with this mission. And I thank you, from the bottom of my heart, under my fake boobs... ;)
