Breast Friends Beating the Odds
In 2022, I heard the words no one wants to hear: You have breast cancer. The years that followed brought surgeries, treatments, and a complete reshaping of my life. Alongside the physical battle came emotional and financial challenges—but also incredible moments of resilience, support, and hope.
I walk not only for myself, but also for my “breast friend” Bex—my best friend and fellow survivor. Bex carries the BRCA gene and made the brave decision to undergo a prophylactic double mastectomy and hysterectomy, dramatically reducing her chance of developing cancer. Her courage inspires me every day.
I’m walking in the More than Pink Walk because research, education, and support save lives. I walk for those still in treatment, for survivors, for the families who’ve lost loved ones, and for a future where no one hears those words again.
Every step I take is in honor of the courage, community, and strength that carried me through—and with your help, we can carry others too.
