#My Why
Walking with Purpose, United for the Cure
This October, I'm proudly walking in the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk -- as a fighter of this devastating disease, and as a devoted member of the Marietta-Roswell Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, standing united for the cure.
Some of you may know about my recent diagnosis. What you may not know is that the treatment I am receiving has only existed for the past 20 years. That's right -- my care is the result of groundbreaking research, advocacy, and awareness made possible by funding. Every dollar raised has helped pave the way for the very treatment that's giving me hope today.
My participation in the MORE THAN PINK Walk in Atlanta is not just for me. I walk in honor of the courageous Doucette and Watson women in my family:
- In memory of my mother, a breast cancer survivor
- For my two aunts and a cousin, who have triumphed as survivors as well.
Their strength fuels mine.
This cause is deeply personal, and I am asking for your support. Your donation will help fund life-saving research and provide critical resources to those facing breast cancer now and in the future.
