My Story
I swore after my last race that I was done with runs. Plus, I raised so much money for ACS, I figured I couldn’t possibly ask anyone for donations again anytime soon.
But since then, I’ve been declared NED: no evidence of disease. So I celebrated! I thought I was done with cancer. But being stage 4, the fight isn’t over for me. I’m still on chemo every three weeks. And my oncologist says once I become immune to the Enhurtu that I’m currently on, I’ll start another chemo, and so on and so on. This STINKS!!
We need a CURE! I’ve received so much support throughout my journey and attended fun, meaningful retreats for cancer fighters. But why I chose to participate in the Susan G Komen More Than Pink Walk is to support RESEARCH so I can actually be done fighting! Komen is the world’s leading breast cancer organization, investing more in research than any other nonprofit and second only to the U.S. government.
And on October 25, you can bet I will be head to toe in pink! But what does “More Than Pink” mean? Komen says it means we need more than just awareness: we need access to treatment, emotional support, and scientists tirelessly searching for tomorrow’s cures. But to me, it means that I am so much more than a fighter. I am glad that I provide everyone with inspiration to be strong and grateful. But I am also a daughter, a sister, a niece, a friend, a prosecutor, a dog mom.
So if you agree that we need to find a cure, please support me in my efforts to raise money for this organization that is doing all they can to help cancer fighters like me.
