Why I'm walking
This year, I joined the Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk with dozens of others at my company - Capital Group - and thousands of others in my community, Atlanta. I am dedicated to Komen's mission of ending breast cancer forever, and I need your help. I have a personal goal to raise $1,500 for this year's mission. While I have not been diagnosed myself, I have had many abnormal scans, ultrasounds and MRIs trying to get an early read just in case it pops up, and am very thankful such technology exists. Probably just like you, I have family and friends dealing with breast cancer; some have conquered it and some are still fighting. Your support helps us get one step closer to a world without breast cancer.
Funds raised help support breakthrough research and provide assistance to those facing breast cancer today who need our support. Whether it’s emotional support via Komen’s helpline, financial support through Komen’s financial assistance program, or navigation services to break down barriers to care, Komen will be there for them.
I am a Christian follower of Jesus and I firmly believe in healing through prayer. I also know that millions of people do not believe and/or do not have access to a Christian who will pray for them. And how do you know to pray for healing if you do not know the cancer is there in the first place? Supporting medical research is not evidencing a lack of faith; rather, it is evidence of compassion and empathy for everyone living in a world where the devil is... well, a jerk!
