My Reason for Participating in the More Than Pink Walk

I am thrilled to once again walk with my friend Alecia Robinson and her incredible team, Hooters' Hope! The Komen Foundation plays a vital role not just in supporting cancer survivors but also in providing essential breast cancer screenings, which are crucial for early detection. Beyond that, Komen connects women with a wealth of invaluable resources that can make a significant difference in their lives. I invite you to join me in supporting breast cancer survivors like Alecia and in honoring the loved ones who have faced the challenges of breast cancer. Below, you’ll find Alecia's inspiring story, and if you feel compelled to contribute, please follow this link to make a donation:

Alecia's Story:

HOOTERS' HOPE IS BACK!!

As the top fundraising team of the 2024 Georgia More Than Pink Walk, Hooters' Hope is back to help fight for the lives of those forever changed by breast cancer. Our mighty team is armed with more team members this year with the same dedicated spirit to raise even more money than in previous years.

I formed team Hooters' Hope because I wanted my family and friends to join me in directly helping those who find their lives upended by a breast cancer diagnosis.

That was me in April of 2022, faced with a life paused and a breast cancer fight in front of me. The weeks and months that followed were both physically and emotionally the hardest and most draining times of my life. I'd have a double mastectomy, six rounds of chemotherapy, and one year of medication infusions. Greatly weakened by treatment and unable to work, the Susan G. Komen organization stepped in to help me with financial assistance. It is just one of the many ways Komen helps those battling breast cancer.

Hooters' Hope is also here again to help Komen raise money for breast cancer research. Among other things, my breast cancer was Her2+, one of the more aggressive forms of breast cancer. In the not so distant past, a Her2+ breast cancer diagnosis could be a death sentence, but research and the development of new medications has changed that narrative. I am a survivor today because these medications exist.

Will you help Hooters’ Hope support the fight on breast cancer and make a donation to our team? Your support will truly make a difference.
