God Is Good
Hello, my name is Rebecca Jones, and I am the proud captain of Team One Day No Cancer.
This year, our team is setting a goal to raise $1,500 in support of Susan G. Komen. We?ve been committed to this cause for over 10 years. While we had to step away the past two years, we are now back on track and ready to continue the fight against breast cancer.
On Friday, October 3rd, we will be hosting our Annual Fish Fry, with all proceeds going directly to Susan G. Komen. If you?re unable to attend, you can still support by making a donation online under our team name: One Day No Cancer.
This cause is deeply personal to me. My mom lost her battle with breast cancer in 2012, and my dear friend Emma Lynette Houston passed from this disease more than 20 years ago. Another team member, Lisa Calhoun, also lost her battle with cancer, leaving behind five beautiful daughters. A close family friend, Sherun , was also taken too soon by breast cancer.
But we also celebrate hope and survival. Barbra Heard, who is near and dear to me, is a breast cancer survivor of over 20 years. I also walk in honor of Jack, the Mayor of Atlanta, whose birthday is October 3rd. Honoring survivors and remembering those we?ve lost is what drives me to keep going.
It truly warms my heart to give back, not asking for anything in return, except the hope that one day we will live in a world with no cancer.
I want to thank you in advance for your generosity, support, and prayers. Please consider joining me and my team for the Susan G. Komen Walk on October 25th. Together, we can make a difference.
With gratitude and blessings,
Rebecca Jones
