Why I Walk
This has always been a cause I supported and believed in - I bought the stamps, wore the ribbons, and walked the 5K. Then 5 years ago the issue hit home when my mother was diagnosed with DCIS - her treatment went well and she is fine, and because of this I was eligiblegible for increased screening including MRIs which this year saved my life when it caught my breast cancer as DCIS. I was told given the nature of the cells and the fact they could not see it on the mammogram that it would likely have been a higher stage by the time they could. I have since had a successful lumpectomy and am starting radiation treatments.
I am sharing my story so that others will get the support and screenings they need which is also why I joined the Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk.
