The physical, emotional and mental toll a diagnosis can take on a person is beyond comprehension until you’re in those shoes.
You learn so much about yourself. Your grit, your resilience, your determination, your strengths and also that you have just many weaknesses. You learn to set your pride aside.
And with that, you learn who’s going to stand by your side. Who’s going to pick you up when you’ve fallen. Who’s going to check in, take care of you. Offer help, or just a shoulder to lean on. You learn a new version of you in the process.
They say the toughest battles go to the strongest soldiers, right?
