Both of my sisters are breast cancer survivors--my sister Kat even wrote a book about her experience deciding not to have reconstruction after her double mastectomy (called Flat and Happy, available on Amazon!!). But it isn't just them--it's countless friends and friends of friends, not to mention my grandmother and mother-in-law. One in eight women in the US will be diagnosed in her lifetime.
