I’ve been participating in the Susan G. Komen walk with my family for as long as I can remember, but this year, it holds a deeper meaning. During my first semester away at college, my mom, Lourdes, was diagnosed with breast cancer, and it turned my world upside down. As she underwent surgery and radiation, I was overwhelmed with fear at the thought of losing my best friend and role model. Today, I walk and fundraise to help create a future where no one has to face that fear. My mom is now healthy, happy, and will be proudly rocking pink on October 4th. He participado en la caminata de Susan G. Komen con mi familia desde que tengo memoria, pero este año tiene un significado aún más profundo. Durante mi primer semestre fuera de casa en la universidad, a mi mamá, Lourdes, le diagnosticaron cáncer de mama, y mi mundo se viró al revés.
