Why I'm Walking For Breast Cancer

My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 39 years old. My paternal grandmother also had breast cancer which may have contributed to her passing. This past year I have had a half dozen friends who have been diagnosed/battling breast cancer and ovarian cancer.

The picture I posted is of my sister Ann and I participating in the Revlon Run/Walk back in May of 2007 in NYC which was where I lived. A few months later I moved to Omaha, and this year I decided that I should walk again to honor my friends and family who have been battling these "pink" cancers.

With my family history, I am at an elevated risk percentage of developing breast cancer. This affects me, my daughter, and my nieces. It also affects so many of us who just don't know.

I am dedicated to Komen's mission of ending breast cancer forever. I am doing this walk and asking for your support so that the next generation of women in my family and all families affected by breast cancer will not have to face the diagnosis and/or will be able to have life-saving treatment.

I am excited to walk for breast cancer again to join thousands of women and those affected by it and help make a difference. Thanks for your consideration!
