Why I Walk Kimberly’s Story
Hi, I’m Kimberly—mom, grandma, compliance manager, and now… breast cancer fighter.
Earlier this year, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then, it’s been a blur of surgeries, appointments, and learning more about cancer than I ever wanted to know. While navigating all of that, I was also caring for my husband, Scott, who was fighting his own battle with head and neck cancer.
Scott passed away recently, and to be honest, I’m still figuring out how to move through life without him. He was my best friend, my biggest supporter, and the one who always knew how to make me laugh, even when things felt impossibly hard. He cheered me on through the start of my fight and never let me forget how strong I am—even when I didn’t feel it.
So I’m walking. For me. For him. And for every family whose lives have been forever changed by cancer.
I’m walking in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure because this disease touches far too many of us. I walk for the survivors, the fighters, and the ones we've lost. I walk for research, for earlier detection, for better treatments, and for the hope that one day—no one else will have to go through this.
If you’re able to donate, I’d be incredibly grateful. Every dollar supports life-saving research, care, and support for people like me. And if you want to walk alongside us, even better. Our team will be showing up with love, with pink, with a little sass—and with Scott in our hearts.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
With love,
Kimberly
