My Story
I?m participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure because I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
I didn?t feel any lumps. There?s no family history. I missed my mammogram last year, and when I finally went this year, I heard news no one ever expects. Hearing the word cancer shook me and devastated my family, but I?m very hopeful, because it was caught early.
Early detection does make a difference. When breast cancer is found before it spreads, the five?year survival rate is nearly 99%
I?m participating so my experience can help raise awareness, to remind people, even without symptoms, don?t wait. Get your mammogram It could save your life.
