What does "In Her Footsteps" mean to me?
Throughout my life, I have been personally impacted by breast cancer & witnessed firsthand the wake of devastation it leaves behind. On the flip side, I've also observed & been inspired by the true grit & resilience of so many women in my family who bravely fought against this disease.
So to me, walking "In Her Footsteps" means both continuing the legacies of these courageous women & keeping their memories alive, as well as living my life in a way that exemplifies their unshakable faith, remarkable strength, and unwavering hope in the face of adversity - a life that would make them proud.
I'm participating in the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk for three main reasons:
- To honor the lives & hard fought battles of my Grandma, Dorothy; my Aunt Rose; and my sister-in-law's mother, Val, who were all taken from this earth far too soon, but had an eternal influence on every life they touched. And also to celebrate my Nana, MaryAnn, who by the grace of God is a breast cancer survivor.
- To raise awareness & educate others about this disease, including early detection, risk factors, and support options.
- To raise funds for the Susan G Komen Foundation, which helps support breakthrough research & provide assistance to those facing breast cancer today who need our support.
I am dedicated to the mission of ending breast cancer forever, and I need your help. We all know someone who has been impacted by this ravaging disease. I'm walking not just for my loved ones, but for every mother, sister, daughter, aunt, niece, and grandma who have been affected.
