You always hear about these stories—watching others go through life-changing moments—but you never think it will happen to you. I certainly didn’t. I was caught completely off guard. What I thought was just a routine follow-up appointment after surgery turned into the moment I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Alone in the doctor’s office, everything changed in an instant.

Throughout this journey, I have been blessed beyond words with an incredible support system. My amazing husband, my mother and Vinnie, my sisters Danielle and Stephanie, my brothers-in-law Eddie and Rob, and my nieces Alyssa and Alex—each of them has been my rock. Their love, strength, and constant support have helped carry me through every step of this fight. I truly could not do this without them.

Over the past year and a half, the outpouring of love, encouragement, and care from my family, friends, and colleagues has shown me that I am never alone. The kindness, generosity, and compassion I’ve received during my most vulnerable times will forever stay with me. I am endlessly grateful.

I also owe so much to my team of surgeons and the incredible surgical ICU nurses who guided me through each phase of this process. Their expertise, patience, and unwavering support—especially through my questions and fears—helped ensure my surgeries were successful and without complications.

Reflecting on all I’ve endured—multiple mammograms, biopsies, MRIs, a lumpectomy, a CT scan, a bone scan, a bilateral mastectomy, DIEP Flap reconstruction, and two additional revisions—I am reminded just how crucial early detection truly is. It saved my life.
