Lauren Yerkes
In April 2022, just three days before my 38th birthday, I was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. Over the next year, I underwent 14 rounds of chemotherapy, a feeding tube due to complications from treatment, a double mastectomy, reconstruction, and eventually a preventative hysterectomy after learning I carry the BRCA2 genetic mutation. The journey was filled with challenges, but also with resilience, gratitude, and a renewed sense of purpose.
Out of that experience, I created POST SWIM, a survivor-led swimwear brand designed to give women confidence and comfort after mastectomies, lumpectomies, reconstructions, or any surgery that leaves visible scars. Every suit is made with thoughtful coverage and the hope that women feel seen, understood, and empowered in their healing.
I am truly honored to join the Bra Garden this year as one of their team members. Walking alongside this community is deeply personal to me, and I?m proud to help raise awareness and funds that fuel research, advocacy, and support for all those affected by breast cancer.
