My Story
Now, I walk not just as a survivor, but as an advocate. I walk to raise awareness, to encourage early detection, and to make sure women of all ages know what to watch for — and what steps they can take to protect their health. Because knowledge truly is power.
Education Saves Lives
Before my diagnosis, I didn’t know what questions to ask or what signs to look for. That’s why the resources from the Susan G. Komen Foundation are so vital. Their educational tools — from breast self-awareness guides to survivor support materials — empower women with the information they need before, during, and after a diagnosis.
Support That Understands
One of the most powerful parts of my journey was hearing from other women who had been there. Peer support gave me hope, clarity, and strength when I needed it most. Programs like those offered by Komen and partners like ABCD (After Breast Cancer Diagnosis) match survivors with mentors who truly “get it” — and that connection can make all the difference.
The Reality
- 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime
- Over 4 million breast cancer survivors are living in the U.S. today
- Early detection leads to a 99% survival rate for localized breast cancer
Every Step Matters
This journey changed me. Now, I walk to raise awareness, to encourage early detection, and to help other women avoid what I went through. If sharing my story helps even one person catch it early or feel less alone, then every step I take in this walk is worth it. I walk for the women who haven’t been diagnosed yet. I walk for those in treatment. I walk for survivors. And I walk for those we’ve lost — but never forgotten.
Let’s walk together. For hope. For healing. For every woman who needs to know she’s not alone. 💗
