Shelling For A Cure

Our Story

Shelling For A Cure!

My first encounter was when my mother called me at college to tell me she had an aggressive form of breast cancer.  She won that battle initially, but 10 years later the cancer came back and overpowered her at the age of 59.  My mother was beautiful, kind and strong - I was so grateful for those extra years I had with her.

Continuing in life, many of my friends and co-workers have also been touched by breast cancer.  Their outcome has been much different due to the research, education and treatments that have been developed over the years. Happy to say they are all survivors.

Next was my turn and at the age of 58, I was faced with Stage 2 and Stage 0 breast cancer.  I trusted my doctors and followed my treatments and happy to say that I am cancer free today. My mother is definitely cheering me on and I will continue to stay strong and proactive.

Shelling at the beach was something that my mother and I both enjoyed. There was something about the beauty of each unique shell that we admired. This team was formed so that everyone keeps shelling to keep beauty in our lives!
