My Story
This year, I joined the Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk. I am dedicated to Komen’s mission of ending breast cancer forever, and I need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today in support of my fundraising efforts.
Why join? Because I am a breast cancer survivor. I am not alone. Many women and men are diagnosed every hour. It’s a devastating disease. You can make a difference by joining Val’s Victory Walkers!!
Here is my story, at almost 57 years old, life had just given me the sweetest news—I was about to become a grandmother for the very first time. I was overjoyed, filled with hope and anticipation for this new season of life. Then came words I never expected to hear: “You have breast cancer.” In that moment, my focus shifted. I knew I had to do everything necessary to rid this disease from my body. I leaned on prayer and my unwavering faith in God’s healing power, and I found strength I didn’t know I had. I underwent surgery to remove the cancer, and by God’s grace, I did not need chemotherapy or radiation. Glory to God for His mercy and healing! Through it all, my family and friends stood by my side—encouraging me, praying for me, and reminding me that I was not alone. Together, with God, we conquered. Today, I am grateful to stand as a survivor. I thank God every day for my healing, for my family, and for the chance to be here to watch my grandchild grow. But I also know so many others are still in the fight. That is why I share my story and why I support Susan G. Komen. Their work funds life-saving research, supports families during treatment, and provides hope for survivors like me. I walk with my team, Val’s Victory Walkers, so that one day no woman—or man—will ever have to hear the words “You have breast cancer.” Please join me in supporting Susan G. Komen. Together, through faith, love, and action, we can save lives and bring hope to countless families.
Ending breast cancer needs all of us, and your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let’s show breast cancer patients there’s a whole community standing by their side. Will you please join me in this fight by making your donation today?
