Why are we called "Margie's Project Always"?
This is the story of just one person who has been fighting Breast Cancer. Oh, she is a fighter and at this time, is winning the fight. When Margie was diagnosed on May 17th, 2024 with aggressive metastatic breast cancer, her world, and that of her family changed forever. In 2025, after a year of intense treatment by the wonderful team at Mercy Breast Cancer facilities, she is coming out the other side. When this all began, Margie and her husband made a promise to "always fight". This became the mantra when heading to the hospital in the middle of the night on a Saturday. Not once but many times in the past year. It was what was shared when the chemo took every bit of energy from her, and yet she still continued to do her job as a high school teacher. The two of them declared that they will always be there, always fight, and always support the other in every way they could. They called it "Project Always"
As a member of this team, we are each playing a part in helping Susan G. Komen® in their mission to end breast cancer forever so others do not have to go through the fight Margie has had to battle.
The money our team raises will fund research to discover more effective treatments, as well as vital patient support to help connect people with things like breast cancer education & information, emotional support, patient navigation, financial assistance and so much more.
Ending breast cancer needs all of us. United together, we can support those who need help today, while fearlessly searching for tomorrow's cures.
