Kasey's Story
Hi Everyone!
As you all know, this past year has been a whirlwind. I am lucky. I am lucky to have the support that I do, through the most difficult time in my life. I had multiple people with me at each and every one of my treatments with even more people offering to join me. I had support at home. My husband getting me through each day, when I didn't think I could live in my head at the thought of what might happen if I wasn't here to raise my kids. I had the support of my family to take care of my girls so that they were as affected as little as humanly possible by this snippet in time. I had the support of my best friends, who literally were there for me through everything. The weight of the world on their shoulders listening to my fears and tears. I had the support of my co-workers to keep me motivated and keep me going at work and to continue my income during chemo.
There are so many women who have none of what I just mentioned. There are women who don't even go to the doctor when they feel something because they can't afford it. I can't even imagine going through what I went through without support.
During my treatment I met and saw so many women of all different ages, ethnicities, backgrounds and social statuses. One thing is for sure, Cancer does not discriminate. So much so, that Breast Cancer affects 1-8 women. There are almost 400,000 newly diagnosed women every single year. After being diagnosed, I realized just how naive I was, not realizing how common the disease is and how it affected so many people around me. We need to advocate. We need to raise awareness and fight for those who don't have the means and the support that I had. We need to fight/ walk/ raise money for our sisters, our mothers, our aunts, our friends, our DAUGHTERS.
Please, share this link with everyone. Every little bit counts. They use this money for so much more than you know! We've Got This.
