Lisa's DCIS Battle Buddies

Our Story

As most of you know, Lisa was diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS), a form of breast cancer that affects the milk ducts, in December of 2024. After many stressful doctor appointments and tests, she underwent a unilateral mastectomy at Main Line Health in early February.

The motivation behind this walk is to:

  • Show our support and love for Lisa as she has been through a very difficult several months.
  • Bring awareness to DCIS which now accounts for 20% of breast cancers.
  • Highlight the importance of women going to their yearly mammogram as DCIS presents no symptoms and can only be detected on a mammogram.
    • A woman with heterogeneously dense breast requires an ultrasound in addition to a mammogram.

If we can help ONE other woman by sharing Lisa's story and walking on May 18th, then the day will be a true success!
