My Story
On March 24, 2023, my mother, Catherine Burk lost her eight year battle to metastatic breast cancer. To honor my mother, this year I joined the Komen community and registered for the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK walk in Philadelphia.
For 391 weeks, my mother underwent numerous surgeries, rounds of chemotherapy and radiation and many hours spent visiting doctors. Throughout her entire journey, she never up. Even when the odds were against her she kept fighting until the very end.
Starting on October 1st, I will be setting a goal of running 391 miles. Each mile will be dedicated to the number of weeks my mother fought her battle with metastatic breast cancer. The end date will by May 18th 2025. This will be the MORE THAN PINK walk in Philadelphia.
Once my 391 miles are complete, I will continue to run to raise awareness until May 18th 2024 with a new goal in mind of seeing how many miles I can run.
I am dedicated to Komen's mission of ending breast cancer forever, and I need your help. Please follow my journey throughout this process in achieving this goal. I will be posting and keeping track of my journey through my Instagram page, Casey_lyn44.
All fund that are raised will be dedicated in my mother’s name and memory. I encourage you to share this with your family and friends. We all know someone who has been impacted with breast cancer. Let’s create a community where we raise awareness of all the survivors, fighters and loved ones lost.
Ending breast cancer needs all of us, and your generosity can make a real difference. Together, let’s show breast cancer patients there’s a whole community standing by their side. Let’s not forget those who have lost their battle.
Will you please join me in this journey? Any size donation can make a difference. My deepest appreciation goes out to all of you! I cannot do this without your support!
