My Story
In 2013, my life changed when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. With no health insurance due to a pre-existing condition, I faced tremendous challenges. But thanks to Susan G. Komen, I was able to have vital diagnostic testing, and in 2014 I had a bi-lateral mastectomy.
I celebrated 5 years cancer-free in February 2019, but just a few months later, I felt a new lump. My worst fears were confirmed—the cancer had returned. After rounds of chemo, radiation, and many difficult moments, I am beyond grateful to still be here today with my husband, kids, family and friends.
My close friend Julie, wasn’t so lucky. She lost her fight to Metastatic Breast Cancer in September. She was a devoted mother, sister, daughter, and an amazing friend. Her children are a heartbreaking reminder of why this fight matters.
Please join me in supporting the Komen Foundation’s critical work. Every donation—big or small—can make a difference. Your generosity fuels research, provides financial and emotional support to families in need, and brings us closer to a cure.
Let’s help ensure that no family has to face this alone.
