My Story
Dear friends,
In six short months, I will be a five-year survivor of breast cancer. It seems like just yesterday when I was diagnosed and began chemotherapy, went through surgery, and completed radiation at MD Anderson Cancer Center in San Diego.
What is more amazing is the progress that has been made in screening and treatment in those last five years. Clinical trials will begin in 2025 to look at the feasibility of using blood tests to improve early detection of cancer. New research has shown that immunotherapy, using the patient's own immune system for their cancer treatment, may show potential for treating advanced cancer that has spread.
Susan G. Komen helps fund this cutting-edge research, as well as support women going through all phases of their cancer treatment. Their financial assistance program helps women afford medical costs, housing and groceries when they're unable to work. Their helpline shares information and resources to women in need. Most importantly, their staff supports a community of women as they go through their cancer journey, filling them with hope for the future.
I will be walking on November 3rd in Komen's More Than Pink Walk. Please help me raise funds for this worthy organization so they can continue to support breast cancer patients.
