My Story
After 8.5 years of diagnostic mammograms every six months, in 2023 I was returned to yearly screening mammograms. I was super stoked! Finally my girls were good to go.
In April 2024 I had my annual mammo, which looked suspicious and so was followed by additional imaging, and then a biopsy. The result - breast cancer. Hearing the diagnosis was devastating. I felt lost, angry and my heart hurt. It is unnerving to have a diagnosis and not know the stage, severity, treatment plan. I disassociated and lead two lives. One as my normal self and a separate entity that has breast cancer. I will survive thanks to the medical advances in breast cancer, including early detection, genetic testing, available medication, surgery options and continued care, made possible via research majority funded through donations.
